Many children do not have enough money to pay for state school ($2 per month) or the required school uniform. Carita Feliz has therefore received several donations in the form of class sponsorship. Typically, this involves finding a group of 38 children of different ages who are not in school for financial reasons, buying them each a uniform, black leather shoes, school bag, paper, pens, pencils and then paying the monthly fee to attend a state school. Since the start of 2004, 24 sponsored classes have been established:
